Process for Scoutmaster Conference & Board of Review

To get to the next rank:

  • Complete all the rank advancement tasks in the Boy Scout Handbook
  • Have a Conference with the Scoutmaster
  • Have a Board of Review with Troop Committee Members

When the Scout completes all of the rank advancement tasks, the Scout should notify the Scoutmaster or one of the Assistant Scoutmasters. After doing this, the Scout should request a conference with the Scoutmaster for the following week.  The Scout should not expect to get a Scoutmaster Conference that evening because the Scoutmaster needs to verify the completion of all rank advancement tasks as entered in the troop database.

Upon completing the Scoutmaster Conference, the Scoutmaster will notify the Troop Advancement Committee Chair the scout has completed all rank advancement tasks and is ready for the Board of Review.  The Troop Advancement Committee Chair will schedule the Board of Review for the Scout at the next available Board of Review date.  The dates will be either during the PLC (Patrol Leader Council) meeting, or prior to the meeting two weeks prior to the PLC meeting.

The Scout is responsible for showing up for the Board of Review in full Class A Uniform.  If the Scout is not in full Class A, they should then explect to come back for another Board of Review.

The Board of Review will be responsible for inspecting uniform, inspecting the Boy Scout Handbook to make sure it is completed correctly, examing the database records for the Scout, and interviewing the Scout to determine the readiness for the next rank.
