The weather in New York is fantastic. We will experience day time temperatures in the low 80's. Night time can get chilly, down into the mid 50's, so pack accordingly. You may want to bring a sweatshirt and have an adequate sleeping bag. You should also bring a foam pad to place under your sleeping bag to aid in insulation. A Bring to Camp Checklist can be downloaded here!
Jamboree 2010 - Celebrate 100 years of Scouting!
The countdown clock is ticking so start making your plans to attend! This is truly a once in a life time adventure.
Nestled in the rolling green hills of Virginia, close to our nation’s capital, Fort A.P. Hill lies near many historical Civil War landmarks. At Fort A.P. the Boy Scouts of America uses approximately 3,000 acres of land to support a city of more than 43,000 Scouts and leaders.
What is There to Do? You name it! The jamboree program reflects the skills of Scouting—physical fitness, environmental conservation, our national heritage, and the true spirit of Scouting.
See yourself rappelling, discovering scuba, kayaking, rafting, and sailing. Experience trap shooting, archery, bikeathlons, buckskin games, confidence courses, conservation trail, and more! There is not enough time in the day for all the exciting activities that are there waiting for you to try.
Daily activities include an incredible merit badge midway, arts and sciences, a re-creation of Baden-Powell’s original Scout camp on Brownsea Island, an American Indian village, regional entertainment stages, and many other activities. The arena shows are a highlight for all participants. The jamboree is Scouting at its very best!
Boy Scouts and Varsity Scouts must be at least First Class Scouts. They must have completed the sixth grade or be at least 12 years of age by July 1, 2010. How Much Will It Cost?
The jamboree fee covers shelter, food, insurance, equipment, program material, transportation, tours, and prejamboree training. The total fee is shown in the Local Council Jamboree Information Sheet. Total fee is set by your local council. There is a $10 Processing Fee due at submission of this application. For more Information, check out http://www.bsajamboree.org

Our Sponsor: We are sponsored by and operate out of St. Matthew's United Methodist Church.
Where & When: We meet most Tuesday nights from 7:30 – 9:00pm in the Community Room at the church. St. Matthew’s is located at 14900 Annapolis Road, Bowie, MD. Our campouts/monthly outings are generally scheduled on the 3rd weekend of the month. On the Tuesday after the monthly outing, we have our PLC (Patrol Leader’s Council) Meeting. Board of reviews for rank advancement also occur at 7pm on the night of the PLC.
What We Do: Being a Scout led organization, we execute the program that is planned out by the PLC. The scouts also take assignment to coordinate each month’s campout/outing. Working with the Scout Leadership of the Troop, we put together a program to help to develop good lifetime skills and values in our Scouts. The focus of our troop is to:
· Offer scouts responsible fun and adventure
· Train scouts in citizenship, service, and leadership
· Maintain a constant outings schedule, with one overnight per month
· Instill lifetime values and develop ethical character as expressed in the Scout Oath and Law
· Provide an active advancement program
Some of our highlights for the upcoming year are:
· Snow Skiing
· Backpacking
· Canoeing
· Klondike Derby
· Summer Camp
· Whitewater Rafting
· Bicycling
